MYC Derby Day, 2005 MEMBERS FORUM BULLETIN BOARD & DISCUSSIONS (If you want a copy of any of these photos, just "right click" on it, then choose the "save as" command and save to a place on your computer)
The Kentucky Derby is always an exciting race, but the horse races at the MYC on Derby Day seemed to create as much, if not more, excitement than the actual race at Churchhill Downs. The large crowd loudly cheered as their favorite horses slowly made their way around the bar to the finish line. Both races went down to the wire, with the #1horse, ‘Dog Chow’ barely winning the first race and the #4 horse, ‘Y’ NOT, winning the second race by a nose. Congrats to the winners! Doing a great job of calling the race was our own ‘JOCKEY’ Jack Burley and a BIG THANK YOU goes out to him. (Great outfit, Jack, and the Jell-O shots were dynamite!) A special note of thanks goes out to Bob Grote and Chrissy Royse for manning the ticket windows. You both did a wonderful job and it was greatly appreciated! The ladies showed great creativity with their ‘Derby Hats’ as well as did the men. The judges, Larry Wagner and George Vakos had a tough time picking a winner in each category, but they did and the result ended in a tie between Diane Marsh and Sue Grote, in the ladies division, and Grant Brogden taking the men’s top prize. Congratulations to you all! All in all it was a great afternoon at the MYC and I want to personally thank each and every one of those who participated. Bar and Floor Manager,
